Here’s a list of common scholarship partners supporting military families. Most scholarships will benefit from a completed FAFSA application before applying to specialized scholarships, especially for need-based scholarships.

American Legion Scholarships

Offers several scholarships to veterans, active-duty service members, and their families, including the Legacy Scholarship for Children of Post-9/11 Veterans.

AMVETS Scholarships

Provides scholarships to veterans, active-duty service members, and their families pursuing undergraduate degrees.

Douglas Scholarship Fund for Military Children

Provides scholarships for military dependent low-income children with the Foundation for the Carolinas.

Folds of Honor

Provides scholarships to military and first responder families.

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

Supports Marine Corps and Navy Corpsmen dependent children. All eligible applicants receive a scholarship, varies in amount.

  • Eligibility: 
    • Child of a Marine or a Navy Corpsman, Chaplain or Religious Programs specialist attached to a Marine unit
    • Cumulative GPA of 2.00
    • Adjusted gross income at or below the financial eligibility threshold determined yearly by MCSF

Supports children of North Carolina veterans.

Supports active-duty servicemembers and their families.
