There are many scholarship opportunities available to military affiliated students and their families. Scholarships can supplement other funding like VA eduacation benefits, federal or state grants, or other scholarships. These scholarships are not always tuition-specific, some can be applied to other expenses such as housing, books, or other school supplies. Scholarships can also be a vital tool for student veterans who want to begin their graduate studies but have exhausted their VA education benefits.

When searching for scholarships it is a good idea to compare the application requirements to the size of the award offered. For example, a scholarship that offers a $200 award, but wants a 10-page essay is not really worth the time and effort.  You should also be mindful of the credibility of the organization awarding the funds.  Do you know the company?  Does the website show past award recipients? Is there a fee to apply?  Scholarship application deadlines vary, so be sure to check scholarship websites regularly for application information.
