Support Student Veteran Services

We Need YOUR Support

Appalachian State University's Office of Student Veteran Services (SVS) and the Major General Edward M. Reeder, Jr. Student Veteran Resource Center (SVRC) are reliant on the generous contributions of donors, through direct donations and fundraising efforts, to meet our mission of supporting military affiliated students during their journey to, through, and beyond Appalachian State University.  We also welcome in kind donations*.  Your contributions and support allow us to provide quality programs and services for Appalachian's military-affiliated students.  For more information regarding our programs and services, check out our What We Offer page.

As stated by Winston Churchill, "A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty."  For us, the difficulty of limited funding allows us to see (and SEIZE) the opportunity to create lasting and meaningful relationships with our supporters.  The support we receive is more than monetary - it helps ensure that we are able to adequately serve those who have served, those who are serving, and as well as their family members.

Through contributions to our Continuing the Mission Fund, you can have a direct impact on the lives and successes of Appalachian's Military Mountaineers.  In short, your support helps us help military-connected students meet their goals and achieve their dreams!

Why Continuing the Mission?

Transitioning out of the military is not the end of the journey for military-affiliated students.  Instead, transition to Appalachian State University represents the continuation of student veterans' and military-affiliated students' committment to service.  They continue their mission through service to themselves (advancing their education), each other (engagement with Appalachian's Student Veterans Association), the community (volunteering, donations, etc.), and the country (government employment, re-enlistment, commissioning as officers, etc.).

Additional Funding Opportunities

The John and Pamela Burke endowed Scholarship helps to support our Veteran Mountaineers who are juniors, seniors, or graduate students pursuing a degree in psychology, counseling, or social work.  If you are interested in helping to support our student veterans pursuing degrees in these fields. Please feel free to make a gift now!   Click here to donate

In addition to individual donations and fundraising events, there are also opportunities for larger contributions and partnerships.
